No Root Canal For Me

That is because the tooth can't be saved.  It has to be extracted.  The oral surgeon talked to me about an implant, but I don't have that kind of money.  So it will just be gone.  I suppose I will get used to it, but I am pretty upset about the whole situation.  However, the extraction is going to cost around $300 less than the root canal.

I went to the store last week and spent $54.  I don't need anything right now so I should make it with spending less than $100 on groceries this month.  There are things I want, but nothing I need.  

I figured up my expenses for the check on the 15th and I will still be able to pay 6 months of car insurance in one lump sum.  I didn't think I would be able to with the tooth situation.  That is something I have never, ever been able to do.  So that is something to celebrate.  Now if I could just get rid of my car payment.  Or at least lower it.  Right now I am upside down on the loan so doing anything isn't really an option.  Just treading water on it.  Perhaps I can start to tackle that now that everything else is paid off.

    Can you get a bridge? I've never had one, but I've heard that some people get one to preserve the space, and it's cheaper than an implant.

    I had a back molar that started with a crown, then a root canal and it still didn't prevent the infection so they recently pulled it. I was so anxious about the extraction but it went fine with no pain and healing went well. It's in the back so it's not an issue. A little adjustment and I'm good. I hope yours will be just as easy.

    I know you are probably not used to comparing prices or shopping around when it comes to dental work, but I was a little surprised the extraction was only $300 less than the root canal. He may be counting on the fact you wouldn't go elsewhere, but seems to me that cost differential should be higher (meaning, the extraction should be a lot less).

    I bet you could find a dentist office that would tell you over the phone what the "ballpark" ct of an extraction would be if you asked.

    Good idea on Paitient Saver as far as shopping around. I thought that sounded pretty high.
